Day to day itinerary

Day-by-day itinerary, short summary

Day 1: Arrival Havana, pickup at airport, by private taxi transfer to boutique homestay in Old Havana. We can stay alltogether as a group at one family.

Day 2: Day Havana, guided walking tour in morning visiting Old & Central Havana, in midday optional group salsa classes in which everyone can dance with your own private teacher, and/or optional tour with an American cabriolet visiting Square of Revolution, Malecon, Che Guevara house & missiles of 1962 Cuba crisis, Malecon etc, boutique homestay.

Day 3: By American oldtimer to Vinales, in midday excursion by taxi to visit the tobacco fermentation house (despalillo) and the cave Santo Thomas, Vinales casa particular in quiet alley with view into the valley

Day 4: In morning a small grouptour visiting the tobacco valley, in midday free time for horseback tour to cave with waterfall, bicycle, visit an organic farm etc. homestay Vinales. Optional full day Vinales valley visiting tobacco farmers and caves, depending on wishes group.

Day 5: Day excursion by minivan and boat to tropical island Cayo Levisa, full day at beach with optional snorkeling or diving, return at end of day at homestay Vinales. Note that this day can also be taken as extra excursion day at Baracoa to the NP Humboldt.

Day 6: By minivan taxi to Soroa, free midday to visit viewpoint (mirador), waterfall, art gallery and local school, various homestays in mountain, dinner alltogether, Soroa

Day 7: Wizards hike, full day program with local guide (birdwatcher and Cuban medicinal plants expert), coffee break at coffee farmer and lunch in tropical forest with a Cuban family, homestays Soroa

Day 8: Transfer to Bay of Pigs, with 2 hrs break at Cueva de los Pesces for snorkelling / diving in crystal clear waters and lunch, casas particulares directly at the beach of Playa Larga with palm trees

Day 9: To Cienfuegos & Trinidad, visit museum Playa Giron about the invasion of 1961, private guided tour and lunch at colonial Cienfuegos, in midday to Trinidad, along the way extra stop at botanical garden Cienfuegos with guided tour and swimstop at beach before Trinidad, great colonial and modern homestays all next to each other, Trinidad

Day 10: In morning 3 hrs cultural excursion with local expert guide of Unesco, free midday Trinidad for beach Ancon, horse riding, salsa classes or walk to the waterfall El Cubano, homestays Trinidad

Day 11: Into the mountains of Sierra Escambray, visit coffee museum, hike to hacienda Codina, along the way swimming and canyon side excursion into open cave Batata, in midday botanical walk after lunch, discover unique cocktails at hacienda, return Trinidad homestay end of day

Day 12: A free day at Trinidad for exploring the village and surroundings, or go by catamaran to Cayo Leguano on a daytrip with snorkelling above coral reef and between mangroves, on the key you can walk over the island, search for shells, see tree rodents, iguanos, several bird species (this catamaran trip is not yet included), return homestay Trinidad

Day 13: Today by bus Viazul from Trinidad to Santiago in 12 hrs journey, beautiful homestay with patio and rooftop garden in colonial center Santiago and great dinner with mojitos.

Day 14: Guided cultural tour in Santiago including a visit to the Morro fort with impressive views over the Caribbean sea, nightlife and salsa at the Casa de La Trova & Casa de las Tradiciones, homestay Santiago.

Day 15: Minivan transfer to Baracoa, can be with great oldtimers, 2 hrs break at different beaches to swim and enjoy one of the most beautiful coastlines of Cuba and crossing through the tropical mountains via the farola, homestays Baracoa

Day 16: Baracoa tropical mountains, Royal Palm walk into the rainforest and mountains, in the morning we cross a saddle of el Yunque, visit a school where we can leave donations, a cacao plantation, with a coffee break at local farmer, typical lunch and swimming time at river Toa, visit coconut key, descending on the river to the sea by rowing boat, and beachwalk to river Duabe all with best local guide, homestay Baracoa

Day 17: Visit of a cacao plantation and families who make chocolate, visit to mangrove forest ecosystem, lunch at great beach of fishers settlement & into the Yumuri canyon by rowing boat and a small stroll in the canyon, transport with classical American cars included, homestay Baracoa.

Day 18: Free morning Baracoa for beach Maguana. Minivan transfer back to Santiago de Cuba over the farola, 2 hr break for beachstops, late flight to Havana, boutique family homestay Havana

Day 19: Havana. Free morning and part of midday at Havana visiting musea, shopping or just strolling around. Transfers out to international airport depending on flights, end of program.
